Mr. Perez is a member of the New Orleans, Louisiana, law firm Perez, McDaniel, Faust & Adams LLP. His practice is concentrated in providing estate planning services, including related income tax planning services, to high net worth individuals, including corporate executives. He is also a certified public accountant. He retired from KPMG LLP as a Tax Partner after practicing in the New Orleans office of KPMG for 33 years.

 

Experience and Representative Accomplishments

 

Mr. Robert Perez and his firm have been selected for several years to the Louisiana Super Lawyers list. He and his firm have also for several years been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the practice areas of Tax Law and Trusts and Estates. He was also for several years named the Best Lawyers' New Orleans Tax Law "Lawyer of the Year."  These recognitions reflect the evaluations of his peers in his practice areas.

 

Mr. Perez has been a popular speaker before continuing legal education seminars and institutes, tax conferences and other professional groups. He has spoken over twenty times each year at such professional education programs. During Mr. Perez's practice with KPMG LLP, he served as a Director of the KPMG Family Wealth Institute, as Partner in Charge of KPMG's Personal Financial Planning (PFP) Training and as a member of the Personal Financial Planning Technology Team. He has served on the AICPA Committee for Trust, Estate and Gift Taxation. He has instructed numerous courses for the AICPA and the Society of Louisiana CPAs in the areas of estate planning, individual income taxation, and the income taxation of estates and trusts.

 

Mr. Robert Perez has been honored with LCPA's Life Membership Award to recognize the generous contribution of his time and knowledge of federal taxation issues to improve the competency of CPAs. He has three times been honored as the recipient of the Society of Louisiana CPAs Award presented to the Outstanding Discussion Leader and the recipient of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Award presented to the Outstanding Instructor for AICPA courses sponsored by the Society of Louisiana CPAs. He received the Society of Louisiana CPAs 1998 Special Recognition award for his contribution to the success of the CPA profession's continuing professional education program, both nationally and at the state level. He received the Society of Louisiana CPAs 2006 LCPA Distinguished Service Award.

 

Mr. Perez has been honored as the Jesuit High School Alumnus of the Year, the recipient of the Leukemia Society of America, Inc. Spiral of Life Award, the recipient of the Leukemia Society of America, Inc. National Leadership Award, and as the recipient of the Order of St. Louis Medallion for service to the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

Background

 

Mr. Perez is a New Orleans native.  He and his wife Laura have eight children, thirteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He is a graduate of Jesuit High School and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Loyola University New Orleans and Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law. Mr. Perez is a member of the American Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Perez joined KPMG LLP in 1970, was elected to the Partnership in 1977, and retired in 2003. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants. He has been awarded the Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) designation by the National Association of Estate Planners and the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation by the AICPA.
